Walk-In Mental Health Services in Frederick County

In Frederick County, the Mental Health Association of Frederick County (MHA) is a 211 call center offering 24/7/365 crisis support.

MHA has an urgent walk-in behavioral health service in Frederick, Maryland, location. Counselors are available 24/7 to help with a mental health, family or relationship crisis.

Therapy and counseling services

Therapy and psychiatric services are also available for a sliding fee. They can help with:

Medical Help

The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs provides prescription and dental assistance. They help a few hundred people every year through these programs.

The prescription drug program provides assistance for individuals who need help paying for life-saving medication. Prescriptions are filled at partner pharmacies.

Dental help

The dental program is available to Frederick County residents aged 51 and older who need emergency dental help with simple dental procedures.

For children, there is a pediatric dental clinic at the Frederick County Health Department for uninsured children or those who have medical assistance. Dental services are provided to children from ages 1-18, including children with special needs. Children can get routine dental cleanings, x-rays, fluoride, fillings, sealants, and routine extractions.

While adults can not get treatment at the Health Department Dental Clinic, vouchers are provided to reduce the cost of dental surgeries at local private oral surgeon offices.

Preventive care screenings

The Community Health Services Division of Frederick County provides free preventive health services. Eligible individuals can get a no-cost colorectal cancer, breast cancer, or cervical cancer screening. They also have a Healthy Hearts blood pressure program, which provides guidance and support to adults with high blood pressure.

Homeless Shelter

If you or someone you know needs emergency housing, you can get help at the Alan P Linton, Jr. Emergency Shelter. It's the largest facility in Frederick County, with 88 beds for homeless adults.

The Religious Coalition for Emergency Human Needs also has an emergency family shelter.

The organization also works with individuals on the transition to permanent housing. After the Storm provides eligible shelter clients with housing help for one year. The program includes budget counseling, case management support, possible security deposit help, rental assistance, utility help, training courses, prescription help, and a referral to Second Chance Garage for help with a car.

Transportation Support

If you're working with a health and human services agency in Frederick County and need help with transportation, you may be eligible for help from Second Chances Garage. It's a low-cost vehicle program. The organization works with these partner agencies. You must be receiving ongoing support from one of them or be a recent graduate of their program. The partner agency determines eligibility.

The general public can also purchase a low-cost car from Second Chances Garage. There are no financing or payment plans, and proceeds support the partner program for those in need.
