qualify financially, although <a href=\"https:\/\/211md.org\/yo\/oro\/maryland-idahun\/\">HR 1<\/a> may change eligibility.<\/p>\n<p>For Maryland Medicaid, you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be a Maryland resident<\/li>\n<li>Be a U.S. citizen or a qualified non-citizen (see below)<\/li>\n<li>Pade aw\u1ecdn ibeere owo oya<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There are also financial, medical, and technical eligibility requirements for certain ages or individuals with a disability.<\/p>\n<h3>Which noncitizens may qualify for Medicaid?<\/h3>\n<p>Some noncitizens may continue to qualify for Medicaid, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lawful Permanent Residents (green card holders) who meet or are exempt from the five-year waiting period<\/li>\n<li>Cuban and Haitian entrants<\/li>\n<li>Compact of Free Association (COFA) migrants from the Marshall Islands, Micronesia, and Palau<\/li>\n<li>Pregnant people and children who qualify<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Children under 21 and pregnant women (regardless of immigration status) are eligible for Medicaid.<\/p>\n<p>Maryland Health Connection offers a Medicaid check-in to verify eligibility.<\/p>\n\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.marylandhealthconnection.gov\/checkin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Medicaid Check-in<\/a>\t\n\t<h3>Noncitizens who may no longer qualify<\/h3>\n<p>Individuals who may no longer be eligible, starting in October 2026, include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>refugees<\/li>\n<li>asylees<\/li>\n<li>noncitizens granted parole for at least one year<\/li>\n<li>certain noncitizen victims of abuse or trafficking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Aw\u1ecdn ibeere i\u1e63\u1eb9 tuntun<\/h3>\n<p>In addition to new eligibility requirements, new work requirements will also take effect in January 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Starting in January 2027, some Maryland Medicaid members ages 19 to 64 must complete at least 80 hours of approved activities each month to qualify for or keep Medicaid coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Activities may include:<\/p>\n<ul data-spread=\"false\">\n<li>working at a job or earning at least $580 a month<\/li>\n<li>volunteering<\/li>\n<li>participating in an approved job training program<\/li>\n<li>attending school, college, technical school, or GED classes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>New applicants subject to the requirement must meet it before applying.
