Housing Choice Voucher

If you need help paying rent, you may be eligible for the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) program, which used to be called Section 8. There may be a waiting list. Your place on the list is determined by the data and time of your application.

Food

If you need food, you may be able to get support from the Community Assistance Network Community Choice Pantry. The income-eligible program provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks per day for a week (7 days). If eligible, you can receive supplemental food once every 30 days.

You have to provide documentation to apply for help through the food pantry. You can also find food programs and support in Baltimore County, in the 211 database or learn about food programs like SNAP available to eligible individuals and families.

Utility Assistance

The Baltimore County Department of Social Services can also help residents apply for energy assistance. There are several ways to get help – with a state grant like the Maryland Energy Assistance Program (MEAP) from the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP), the Fuel Fund if you are a BG&E customer or with a payment plan from your utility like BG&E. Learn about all your options to pay your utility bill.
