Find Food

If you’re looking for food in Wicomico County, search for a local food pantry in cities throughout  Wicomico County.

The Maryland Food Bank Eastern Shore Branch offers a mobile food pantry with canned meats, vegetables and other non-perishable items. The pantry reaches people who live in remote areas or do not have a local pantry.

 

Rental Help

The Joseph House in Salisbury helps with food, rent, utility bills and other essential needs. To get help, check the latest hours, qualification guidelines and documents you’ll need to apply for help.

Are you having trouble paying your rent due to COVID-19? You may qualify for emergency rental assistance if you are in danger of losing your rental home due to lost hours or job due to COVID-19. There are also specific income and residency guidelines. You qualify if you live in Wicomico County but not Salisbury City limits.

Habit for Humanity of Wicomico County details program guidelines. Funs are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

If you live in the city of Salisbury, you may qualify for COVID-19 related rental and utility assistance from Neighborhood Housing Services. Rental assistance is also available for Wicomico County residents.

 

Mental Health

The Life Crisis Center in Salisbury supports the tri-county region of the Eastern Shore of Maryland. They’re part of the 211 call center network.

Life Crisis Center also offers counseling, legal services, supervised visitation and other support for domestic violence victims, adults sexually abused as children and victims of sexual assault.

Counseling is free for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and child abuse.

Wicomico County Health Department also offers child, adolescent and family outpatient mental health services, naloxone training, an adult methadone maintenance and suboxone program for residents addicted to opioids and several community health programs and services.

Financial Help

If you’re having trouble paying for prescription medication, you may be able to get help from Salisbury Urban Ministries.

Utility assistance is available for those who qualify through the Office of Home Energy Programs (OHEP). 211's utility assistance guide provides detailed information on qualification guidelines, assistance programs and how to fill out the application form.

You can also get assistance with the Maryland Energy Assistance Program application from SHORE UP! in Salisbury.
