Free Food Programs in Baltimore City
The Baltimore City area has resources and support for those impacted by the federal shutdown or who are facing food insecurity for any other reason.
Produce Box Distribution
Residents can also get a 15-pound box of fresh produce, filled with fruits and vegetables, at locations throughout Baltimore City. These distribution events are held several days a week, and are expected to last through January 2026. There are 30 sites throughout Baltimore City, and events are held on various days of the week.

Home Delivered Food
If you are a Baltimore City resident and can't afford meals or groceries and currently have no food at home or will run out before you can buy more, you can request a free home-delivered grocery box. The box includes a week's worth of non-perishable food.
This program is usually available to adults 55+, but it's temporarily open to everyone due to the shutdown.

Food Project
UEMPOWER of Maryland's "The Food Project" offers a pop-up food market in Southwest Baltimore on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. Get the latest times for meal and food giveaways. They also deliver meals to those who are housebound. UEMPOWER works with partners to help individuals and families navigate benefits, documents, clothing, and more.

For groceries, pantry staples, and diapers, visit So What Else. The variety, quantity, and quality of food may vary day to day. Bring a bag or cart to carry items home. Located in Southwest Baltimore, the Baltimore Resource Center helps the community several days a week. Grocery Discounts In Baltimore
There are two additional ways to save on groceries:
- SHARE Food Network
- B'More Fresh (through Amazon)
The SHARE Food Network is a nonprofit that provides healthy groceries at about half the retail cost. Menus are updated every month, and pickup locations are throughout Maryland.
Amazon discounts
Baltimore City SNAP participants (formerly known as food stamps) can receive a $20 produce voucher through B'More Fresh and Amazon. Since it's an Amazon program, the food will be delivered.
The vouchers are available once a month and must be spent within 30 days.
Here's how it works.
- Spend $5 on SNAP/EBT eligible fresh or frozen fruits and vegetables.
- Get a $30 voucher after the purchase.
- Spend the voucher.
- The process can repeat once a month.

The Baltimore City Sheriff's Office Food Drive is happening at the courthouses and local grocery stores. Deputies are collecting non-perishable food at Clarence M. Mitchell, Jr. Courthouse and Elijah E. Cummings Courthouse during business hours, Monday-Friday from 8:30-4:30 p.m. Learn more on their social media pages.
SNAP and WIC
If you need help paying for groceries, there are two food assistance programs available.
