There are several food pantries in St. Mary’s County. First Saints Community Church Loaves and Fishes soup kitchen and food pantry provides hot meals and canned goods to those in need.

If you need food, you can also check the latest provider list from the Southern Maryland Food Bank and Outreach Services and the 211 database.

If you need help paying your utility bill or rent, buying prescription medication or food, or have another emergency need, contact Helping Overcome Problems Effectively (HOPE) of St. Mary’s.

For utility bill assistance, you can also reach out to the Southern Maryland Tri-County Community Action Committee (SMTCCAC, Inc.). They can answer questions and help fill out applications for income-eligible residents requesting an energy assistance grant for heat or electricity in St. Mary’s County.

The agency also offers housing counseling, affordable housing, COVID-19 emergency assistance with rent and water bills for those impacted by the pandemic and a list of food pantries and soup kitchens in St. Mary’s County.
