In Maryland both parents have a legal duty to support their child based on their ability to provide that support.

Child Support Calculator 

Maryland child support guidelines base child support on a proportion of each parent’s gross income.

The Department of Human Resources has a free child support calculator to help estimate the amount of child support a court may approve.

If you need to change an order that is already in place, Maryland Volunteer Lawyers Service provides general information on the child support process.

If you need a Pro Bono or low-cost attorney, you can find organizations that offer legal services in the 211 database. There may be income, geographic, and case-type eligibility requirements.
